What We Can Learn from Creation

The things a person produces express the kind of person he or she is. Traits such as carefulness, diligence, wisdom, or sloppiness, laziness, and foolishness are readily apparent. Thus we can learn a lot about God by studying what He has created. Romans 1:20 says that God's eternal power and divine characteristics have been clearly seen since the creation of the world. It is easy to see how the vastness of the universe displays God's eternal power. How does creation show God's divine characteristics?

At least two divine characteristics are clearly seen in the first chapter of the Bible. It presents God as the source of both light and life. These are attributes of God, not merely items in His creation (1 John 1:5; Psa. 36:9; John 1:4). Those who have received the Lord Jesus have in some measure experienced the divine reality of these things (2 Cor. 4:6; John 3:16). (See Enjoying God as Life)
