Introduction:
The church in London is burdened for the propagation of the gospel of the kingdom. We desire to see sinners saved and believers built up to stand for the Lord's testimony. But for this desire to be realized, we need practical perfecting related to our relationship with the Lord, our knowledge of the Word, and our way to be with people to bring them into the life and revelation that we enjoy. Thus, we have begun to have what we call a gospel propogation perfecting (GPP). It is especially for the saints who meet with us here in London but we have room for a very limited number of others to join with us each term.
Goal:
The goal of the GPP is to carry out the vision and revelation that the
Lord has given: to perfect the saints for the propagation of the
gospel, to preach the gospel of the kingdom for its expansion on earth
using the written word and the spoken word, and to hasten the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Who:
The GPP is a fairly intense program designed to both equip people for
spreading the gospel and to make the gospel an integral part of their
daily life. The schedule is relatively full with most of the time
occupied. This is not meant to be a vacation. We want participants who
mean business with the Lord and do our best to discourage and screen
out any who would want to come with other motives.
What:
The GPP includes a number of aspects. Firstly, there are 80 lessons
which cover the basic truths in the Bible related to the gospel. About
15 hours a week are spent in classes, study time, and presentations
back by the students related to these lessons.
Secondly, the GPP involves going out to meet people and
to bring the gospel to them. On most weekdays, some time is scheduled
for this here in London, including distributing spiritual materials to
people (colporting). On weekends and during "field" times, we go out to
other cities nearby with the expectation of raising up churches there.
So the initial goal of going out is to find people who are interested
in the gospel. After that, the goal is learning how to care for them
and help them to grow in the Christian life. It is this matter of
learning to care for others both humanly and spiritually that takes a
considerable amount of time. This involves both mentoring by those who
are more experienced and times to put into practice the things being
taught.
Thirdly, the GPP involves a structured and disciplined
living. We are quite concerned with building up a proper character and
good living habits, without which, no gospel preacher can serve God
effectively.
Finally, we try to provide an atmosphere and opportunity
for those participating in the GPP to be built up in love with the rest
of the saints in the church in London. The Christian life is a
corporate life in which Christians need one another for mutual
encouragement, teaching and supply.
When:
The next term of the GPP is planned to be from May 4 to November 4, 2007.
