Francis Ridley Havergal

Author: Esther Enoch

Audience: Youth - Adult

Rating: Good

Francis Havergal wrote many hymns, some of which continue to be among favorites of many Christians even today. The author was very familiar with Francis and her writings so she could write her story in a warm and personal style. This makes the book very pleasant to read.

Francis Havergal did not rely on her talent even though she was very, very talented. She was diligent to redeem each moment. Most of all she was very appreciative of the Lord's salvation and of the beauties of His creation. Her hymns flowed out of that appreciation.

The thing I liked the least was that Francis' concept of heaven was very much influenced by the traditional teachings of Christianity.
