The goal of this lesson is to develop a deep appreciation of God's riches so that we can enjoy God at all times and apply His riches to our daily life.Introduction
To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours:Acts 9:14
- This was written to those who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in every place.
And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon Your name.Acts 2:21
- Saul wanted to put the Christians in jail.
- He knew who they were because they were calling on the name of the Lord Jesus everywhere.
And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.''Acts 22:16
- When we call out to the Lord with our whole being then we are really saved.
And now, why do you delay? Rise up and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name.Acts 7:59
- This was when Saul was saved.
- Before he persecuted the ones who called on the Lord, now he became one of the callers.
And they stoned Stephen as he called upon the Lord and said, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!Rom. 10:12-13
- Stephen was the first believer to be martyred because of his testimony for the Lord.
- While he was being stoned he was calling on the Lord.
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all and rich to all who call upon Him;
13 For ``whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.''
- Now we need to help you to call.
- The Lord is rich to all who call upon Him.
- We often need to be saved from temper, depression, and this kind of thing so we call on the Lord.
- When you call on the Lord be slow and deep and strong (not necessarily loud).
- Just using your lips doesn't mean anything.
- Do you think Stephen called casually, without any feeling, when he was being stoned? Of course not! He called with his whole being.
- (Now help them to practice.)
- Try again a little slower.
- This time deeper, with your whole being. Use your stomach muscles.
- Try a little louder.
- (Don't ask them to call too many times. If you have been able to bring them into an appreciation of the Lord's riches then they will touch their spirit easily.)
- Didn't you touch something inside that is very hard to explain? Isn't it good?
- Think of calling out for help, that is the kind of calling that makes the Lord real in our experience.
- The Lord is rich to us when we call on His name.
- We can set our mind on our spirit to get life and peace by calling on the name of the Lord.
- The old mind, the mind set on the flesh, doesn't like to call but the renewed mind loves to call on the Lord.
- We appreciate the Person of the Lord Jesus. He is so wonderful. So we love to call His name to enjoy Him.
- Try calling on the Lord when you are happy. Try calling when you are sad. Whatever the situation you can call inwardly. If no one else is around you can call out loud.
- The next time we come we will start by calling. We hope you will be able to tell us of some times when you called and touched the Lord.
