Church Library

Purpose

The primary purpose for this library is to encourage spiritual growth and development through an appreciation of what the Lord has done in and through believers who have gone before us. A secondary purpose is to provide healthy reading material for children and young people. We hope that the materials in the library would encourage the families with children to spend some time each day to read to them.

Materials

The s in the library are mainly biographical and historical in nature. We have many teachings in the church life but still need examples of the Lord's dealing with others to be able to apply what we have learned to our own lives. This does not mean that we endorse everything that other believers did or experienced. Oftentimes even the most spiritual believers have had blind spots in certain areas. A couple of the most common examples are concerning believers' concept of heaven and concerning their practice of "Christian" holidays. We should not follow them in these kinds of things.

Thus someone may have advanced far beyond our own experience in some ways and yet be short in other ways. In particular, few believers before us have been clear concerning God's eternal purpose and the means He is using to carry it out. This is a great treasure that we should never lose sight of. So even though we can learn a lot from others we should know and appreciate our own heritage even the more. But if we are clear concerning God's economy then knowing and appreciating the Lord's work in and through others will inspire and help us toward the goal.

The best materials for children and young people are both interesting and of value in teaching them the Bible stories or character lessons. We hope that every child growing up among us would have had their parents read many of these kinds of materials to them.

Evaluations

Library users are invited to fill out evaluation forms to let us know what they think of the books they read. Selections from those evaluations are posted here for easy browsing.
