Why We Need to Talk About God

Deep inside man is something that is known as the "human spirit." Now this spirit is inside every man, whether born again or not. This spirit craves something: God. So in most serious conversations, the matter of God rises up. Why does this happen? Who brought up the topic? This happens because the spirit in man desires God, and therefore can do nothing but crave for God. For this reason, every human desires to know about God; every human wishes to have and know God.

As a regenerated Christian, my spirit is actually filled with God. The human spirit was made to contain God. This is why humans crave for God. They feel life is meaningless and empty without God. They are always searching for something to satisfy this strange hunger. Most never find it because they never find God. God is the only one who can satisfy this hunger.

When I was younger, I was always active. I was always searching for something to satisfy my internal hunger and desire. I could find nothing permanent. Everything that I found was merely temporary, and the hunger came back. What I did not know at the time was that this craving was for God. My parents were both saved, and when my sister was saved, I felt an even greater desire to know God.

I always thought about God as a far-off God, the God who sits in the heavens. So when my parents told me that I could have God inside me, I was very excited. When I was saved, my hunger was satisfied and I was truly released from all my burdens. My heart was soaring and I was truly close to God. I accepted Jesus as my Saviour and He came into me. I learned to talk to God and to enjoy God. God would satisfy all my desires, and still does.

So, whenever you feel empty, lonely, depressed or spiritually hungry, remember that God is there waiting to fill your spirit. Your spirit is telling you that you need God and so the only remedy is to accept God into you.
