We meet together in a variety of settings each week. Some of our meetings are all together in our hall at 725 Viscount Road, London, Ontario. We also have a wide variety of home meetings with smaller numbers of people. These are a very important part of our church life. The content of every home meeting is according to the needs of those who are there. This also means that we may put aside what we prepared for the meeting if we find that there is a particular need to take care of that week. We strongly encourage everyone in the church to actively participate in at least one small fellowship meeting.
If we are meeting with someone who recently received the Lord we try to arrange that a few of us could go to their home each week. There we help them with knowing the basic gospel truths from the Bible, with learning to pray, with learning to take God's Word as nourishment for their spiritual life, with learning to confess their sins to maintain their fellowship with the Lord, with learning to enjoy some good hymns, etc.
With some who are a little more advanced we like to meet together to sing, pray, read the Bible, enjoy the Lord, and often go over some portion of a spiritual book. This meeting is much more mutual in terms of the participants caring for and building up one another.
With others who have the capacity we like to sing, pray, etc. to touch the Lord but also to have each one come prepared to study a passage or topic from the Bible. For instance, we may ask each one to prepare an outline of a particular chapter of the Bible and then together work on incorporating what each has found into a consolidated outline.
The larger meetings are not all the same either. Each one has its own nature according to its purpose. The Lord's table is to remember the Lord, praise Him for all He has done for us and is to us, and to join Him in worshipping the Father. The ministry meeting is to impart life and truth. The prophecying meeting is for each to share according to what the Lord has given them. The prayer meeting is to cooperate with the Lord for His move on the earth and to seek the Lord together for our needs. The training meeting is to try to equip those with a desire to do so to be able to teach and supply others also. The young people's meetings are to help them to know the Lord, to love the Lord, to develop healthy spiritual exercises, etc. Our desire is that everyone in the church could be advancing in both their relationship with the Lord and in the effectiveness of their service to Him.
Visitors are welcome to come to our meetings at our meeting hall but even the more we encourage you to contact us at info@churchinlondon.org for some informal fellowship and perhaps to come to one of the home meetings. This is a better setting to get to know us, have questions answered, etc. We are happy to share our experiences and enjoyment of the Lord. Then if you are still interested you can join us in the larger meetings as well.
The meetings at the hall at 725 Viscount Road (at the corner of Piedmont Crescent) are normally on the following schedule:
Lord's Table - 9:30 am, Sunday
This is a meeting where we gather to remember the Lord in praise and worship and to partake of the bread and the cup as the Lord instructed. We try not to be formal or ritualistic, rather the meeting is designed to give everyone a chance to participate in order to touch the Lord with their spirit.
Ministry and Prophecying - 10:30 am, Sunday
This meeting usually has 4 elements: singing, a message from the Bible, a time of review of the message in groups of 4 - 6 people, and a time of "prophecying". When we speak of prophecying, we do not stress a supernatural prediction of the future. We mean that all the members are encouraged to speak something for the Lord based on 3 main elements: what they have just heard and reviewed from the message, their knowledge of the truth, and their experience and enjoyment of the Lord. After the meeting some families remain to eat lunch together. It is a pot luck dinner in which each brings whatever they have prepared and all share together. Other families are in the habit of inviting guests to come to their house for lunch.
Prayer - 8:00 pm, Tuesday
In the prayer meetings we do spend some time to touch the Lord in spirit through the Word. This brings us into an atmosphere and spirit where we are able to pray to the Lord in spirit according to His leading.
In this meeting we pray over the Word, learn some new songs or enjoy some we know, and
have some ministry of the Word. We come together before the meeting for supper together at the
hall. A few prepare the food for everyone and the rest chip in a couple dollars to help pay for it.
